What is a Protected Trust Deed?

A PTD is the Scottish equivalent of an IVA. A formal agreement between you and your creditors to repay what you can afford towards your debts over a set period of time, usually 4 years. At the end of the term, any remaining debts are written off in full.

You can consolidate most unsecured debts into a PTD and make repayments based on what you can afford, rather than what you owe.
