A MAP is a way for people with a low level of income, very few assets and who cannot repay their debts over a reasonable period of time, to go bankrupt.
Most debts can be included in a MAP and once complete, all included debts are written off in full.
With a MAP you do not have to repay any of your debts and all creditors are prevented from pursuing you for the amounts that you owe. After usually 6 months, all debts are written of in full and you will become debt free. Only people who live in Scotland, or have lived in Scotland in the past 12 months, can apply for a MAP and you must first consult a debt professional.
